Bartender

Job Summary:
Working as part of a team, the Bartender’s primary focus is to provide exceptional customer service while promoting safe serving practices of alcohol. This person must have extensive knowledge of craft beer, specifically Ore Dock products and history. Bartenders must exhibit excellent communication and customer service skills and effectively represent the vision of Ore Dock Brewing Company. This position reports to the Hospitality Manager.
Key Responsibilities (but are not limited to):
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for guests
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of Ore Dock beers, beverages and the brewing process, and communicate that information enthusiastically to guests
  • Open and close the tap room, community space, station bar, and trestle cocktail lounge. Including setting up the bar, ensuring layout matches event, stocking supplies and merchandise, maintaining a clean bar and thoroughly cleaning at the conclusion of each shift
  • Maintain knowledge of music and events happening in each space
  • Facilitate a safe environment by knowledgably checking IDs to verify age and applying TIPS training to ensure customers aren’t over-served
  • Execute transactions efficiently and securely on Square using Apple products
  • Act as a steward of Ore Dock Brewing Company values in the community and craft beer industry
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Knowledge of beer on tap – hop/malt profiles, additions, knowledge of beer style
  • Knowledge of Ore Dock founding story and basic brewing process
    • Knowledge of cocktail recipes and garnishes
  • Base knowledge of Marquette area events and attractions
  • Minimum 6 months serving experience in an alcohol related position
    • Valid Michigan TIPS certification
  • Exceptional people skills, with professionalism and a sense of humor
  • Strong communication skills, with emphasis of working in a team.
  • Ability to create and maintain an energetic and welcoming atmosphere in a variety of settings/events
  • Accuracy on a till, basic math abilities
  • Absolute ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work alone on a shift
  • Open availability on days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must be able to lift 150 pounds
