Concierge
Job Summary:
This person’s primary focus is to enhance the experience of all patrons within the space and provide support to the staffed Bartender. Taking direction from the staffed Bartender, the Concierge will help facilitate maximum service efficiency by performing the key responsibilities outlined. The Concierge must exhibit excellent communication and customer service skills. This position reports to the Hospitality Manager.
Key Responsibilities (but are not limited to):
- This position requires clear communication with customers, providing them the information needed to make their time at Ore Dock and in Marquette the best it can be; this means performing the duties necessary to facilitate the bartenders efficiency, providing patrons with brewery, distillery and tourism related information, and keeping all Ore Dock spaces friendly and inviting for all customers. These duties include but are not limited to all of the following:
- Set the stage for customers entering the space. When they arrive greet them and give them the name of the bartender pouring as their primary point of sale, provide information about our beers and cocktails, the evening’s entertainment (if applicable), the brewery through the windows, location of restrooms and the merchandise area, and overflow seating or bar service upstairs (as applicable)
- Stocking glassware, growlers, crowlers, beer and soda coolers and chips
- Provide pouring assistance as needed (at the direction of the bartender)
- Maintain clean spaces by frequently sweeping,
clearing and washing tables, busing glassware, changing trash and recycling - Assist patrons with merchandise and ensure displays are organized and stocked
- Keep bathrooms stocked and clean
- Keep backstock closet organized
- Check kegs and change as needed
- Refill Slushie machine as needed
- Keep snack options stocked
- Sweep the upstairs for glassware and trash during times the space is unstaffed.
- Ensure all glassware is washed and bar area remains clean
- Complete weekly assignments from the chore list between customer interactions
- Ensure posting areas and chalk boards are up to date, removing out of date posters and updating chalkboards as necessary
- Utilize your TIPS training to provide a positive experience for all patrons
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of beer on tap – hop/malt profiles, additions, knowledge of beer style
- Knowledge of Ore Dock founding story and basic brewing process
- Base knowledge of Marquette area events and attractions
- Minimum 6 months serving experience in an alcohol related position
- Valid TIPS training, valid in Michigan
- Exceptional people skills, with professionalism and a sense of humor
- Strong communication skills, with emphasis of working in a team and ability to create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere
- Absolute ability to multi-task
- Capabilities to work alone on a shift
- Open availability for days, nights and weekends
